I've had these run arounds in the past and believe it is just a tactic in larger claims to reduce the payout.
Provide them a copy (feel free to blank out any info not pertinent, like purchase price or whatever you don't want them to know). They may need to know that you haven't subsequently take a loan against it if you held the title when you bought the policy.
Either way it's a stall tactic and has no real bearing on the settlement value.
Also have they mentioned subrogating to the other parties insurance? If they have they may not be telling you and trying to recover the difference between the payout to them and payout to you.
I'm not certain why you have not filed a claim with the other party's carrier yet. This is where the settlement should come from and technically your company did not need to be involved at all unles you NEEDED them.
I got blasted for this in another thread, but this is the exact reason I will NOT give out my insurance info following an accident that is clearly no fault of my own.
Got burned once doing it and had no hassle or claims or rate increase 2 other times by keeping my insurance info off the record.
