And for those who will point out that you are required to show proof of insurance, you are correct.
However, you do not have to show it at the scene of the accident. If the cops write a no proof of ins ticket, it will be dropped as soon as you show the court your proof dated prior to the "infraction." The court doesn't care about the incedent that lead to the infraction ther for your info is still not part of the claim.
