Total loss, adjuster wants copy of title prior to settlement

Still hashing out settlement with adjuster, who will not budge. I'm going to call the at fault driver's ins. Company today and start working with them. However, the current adjuster asked for a copy...

Why is the "adjuster" wanting the title. I can see the insurance company or insurance agent. In my mind, all the adjuster should be doing is determining the amount of damage and if it is totaled or not. Then the adjuster passes this info on to the Insurance company.

A lot of the adjusters are just sub-contractors for the insurance companies.
