Tow Bar/Baseplate Recommendations

Just bought an '04 Jeep Liberty and need to get set-up. I'm aware of the different brands, but was looking for some recommendations about actual items.

It would seem to me that the real questions to be asked are one-piece baseplate or two and solid or articulating tow bars. I can see the advantages of both, but I'd like some opinions.

Thanks in advance.

  • I like Demco.
"No Consensus" Looks like you will have buy one of each.:B

  • While I have a BluOx TruCenter on my Motorhome, I will never own another of their baseplates. This was from a 98 Saturn SW2 that we had years ago. The Roadmaster baseplate I replaced this with was MUCH heavier and one solid welded piece.

My advice is to download the install instruction for each, look closely at the pictures and install instructions and buy the best product based on YOUR vehicle.

    I hope this helps.

The only way I will ever go is a Blue Ox baseplate and Ready Brute Elite tow bar with built in surge brake.

X2.....except for possibly using a DEMCO base plate and assuming it will look as good as it does on a Wrangler.
  • Roadmaster tow bar and EZ baseplate.

    Roadmaster Brakemaster proportional braking system.

    Roadmaster is 100% American made!
  • I prefer RoadMaster. Use a BB for toad braking.
    Everyone has there favorite.
    Some like Blue Ox products.
    Both are good.
