Tow dolly safety chains

Our Master Tow dolly did not come with safety chains. We are considering adding chains through front of wheel and attach to same bar straps attach to. Opinions please. Thank you. This is our first time having c-class and towing. Nervous about straps holding toad in place on dolly!!!

You can if you want to. I towed for a couple of years with no chains.
The secret to getting your straps tight is to leave about 2 inches between the tires and the front stop of the dolly. When you get the car on the dolly and the straps over the tiers, put the car in neutral. Now tighten the straps now put it back in park. The reason is the straps won't slide on the tire and won't be tight. You have to let the tire roll forward to take the slack out of the back of the strap. If you do it this way you won't have a problem with the straps coming loose.

  • We have a Demco SS and use the chains. We put a foam sleeve over them and thread them through the wheels. The chains are long enough to allow them to be hooked back to the chain itself.
