Towing 2018 Equinox Premier — wiring issue

We drive a 2015 Ventana LE and tow a 2018 Equinox. The first time we towed the Equinox everything went fine until we unhooked. Now the Equinox signal lights, front and back, are blinking at twice the speed they should. When the Equinox is hooked up to the motorhome, the speed of the signal lights goes back to normal. The motorhome has bulb and socket taillights and the Equinox has LEDs.
  • Does the equinox have multiplex wiring. If do that may be the problem.

  • Hey Dennis. Are you out there somewhere? Explain this -- yesterday the signal lights on our Equinox were working again the way they should.
  • The tech used a gauge to check the fuses. The person who wired the Equinox used the same wiring that came out of our 2014 Equinox. Was this a mistake ?
  • Usually a fast blinking turn signal occurs is one or more filaments are burned out or a fuse blows. Did the tech use a meter to check or simply eyeball them. We used to cut wires to get the fast blink on the Hondas. At that time, (we were much younger) we thought that was pretty cool....Dennis

Another thought on edit: When you set the Equinox up for towing, did you install diodes in the wiring harness?
  • We attended at our GM dealership today to have the Equinox checked out. There were no blown fuses or bulbs and the wiring cable and plugs had nothing wrong with them. The technician said he would research this matter further. He said the signal lights blinking at double-speed would not hurt anything so we'll wait to see if someone comes up with a solution.
  • You blew a fuse in the Equinox. Use a tester and find it. If it blows again, then you'll have to trace the short. My guess is it's in your umbilical cord or at the plug.....Dennis
