towing 2018 serria 4x4

Question

have a new 2018 serria 4x4 and want to make sure i am preparing the correct way. owners manual says to put in netural and then shift the 4 wheel drive into neutral. then shift into park release the park brake and disconnect the neg. battery cable and then turn key to run. My dealer said to leave gear shift in neutral and do all the same things.
Who is right put in park or neutral. thanks for the help

Follow the directions in the owner’s manual.

The manufacturer puts its instructions in writing. Did the dealer? Manufacturer gives a warranty and will repair if defective. Will the dealer repair if wrong? Talk is cheap.

Follow the manufacturer instructions. Between and friend and I we have towed GM trucks for many years. Instructions always said put trans in park, we have always done it and never had a problem.

Follow the manual. Ditto. However do not put it into park with engine running. It will grind. I ensure that the transfer case is in neutral by taking the transmission into reverse and then killing the engine and then moving into park and after putting key in "run" I make sure the steering will turn and then pull the negative battery cable.
