I agree with this statement to a point.
A higher horsepower/torque engine will get you closer to the max tow rating. Maybe 70 to 80% for great towing.
With lower HP/Tq, 50% is closer to the truth.
I for one enjoy the towing experience at 70% of my max tow with a big block V8 that'll run at low rpm all day. But just as important is enough TV weight so I'm not fighting wind gusts all the time.
I guess it just depends on how far the tow lasts. A couple hours, no big deal. 8 or 10 hours and it's a very big deal.
