Towing a 6000 lb trailer with a Taurus?

I think the problem here is not engine but breaking power. You can tow it until you have an emergency situation then you're screwed. Also, nothing about the payload?
Not that I drive the perfect combination - far from it, I wish I had a 3/4 ton TV. But last year my break cable disconnected while going up and down the mountains and I did not even realize it for a long time (a truck driver kept honking so I finally decided to look what was happening).
