Towing a golf cart

Hi All
We just bought an older electric cart that we are going fix up and tow. the owners manual says for safe towing you must remove the roof and windshield or risk wind damage.....I'm sure I have seen people towing carts but now I'm second guessing.....

  • I used to think the same thing. But we used to take our golf cart in the bed of the truck while pulling a TT. Did that multiple times to the beach and twice to Disneyworld (1200+ miles round trip).

All we did was make sure the front of the golf cart is not pointed up. Tow the golf cart in a trailer but make sure the trailer is level. If the front of the trailer is up, the roof of the cart will act as a parachute. Also lower the front windshield if its the folding type.
  • I would "guess" that they are talking about towing it on a trailer and that the cheap/weak/parachute of a windshield and roof won't take highway speeds.
I have had boats with tops that were the same way.

  • golf cars cannot be towed at high speed on their own wheels. You will have to trailer it or load it. Please inquire if the camp(s) you intend to take it to permit their use and for what purpose.
