Towing a scooter

Any recs on what I could use to tow a small (under 200 lbs) scooter behind a class A. Preferably a hitch mounted one.

  • Vesahaul. About 89lbs, 600lb weight limit, plus you can still tow a toad under 3000lbs Comes with ramp for one person easy loading. Might be overkill but leaves room to grow.

A $125 scooter carrier. Maybe get a cover for it also.

WOW, I paid a lot more than that for my steel one.

  • I have a Travelrite rack and i'm happy with it. See:clicky

    Some features:
It comes with a simple anti rattle hitch bolt that works!
Has a center tie down so there is one less bar to whack your shins on.
    Relatively light, like 35 lbs.
States only two straps needed, I still use four.

    Other stuff:
If you have a center mounted spare, you will probably need a hitch extension.
The standard rack for years is probably the VersaHaul. It's very heavy and you don't need that for a small scooter.

  • What do you mean by "a small scooter"? Is it a battery powered scooter for someone with walking problems that will have electronics that shouldn't be out in the rain, or is it a motor powered scooter that can handle the elements?

I would think a small used enclosed trailer.

  • I did mean a platform, hitch mounted. I have been looking online and there are few available, any recs on which ones are good/bad?
  • Fastest way to ruin a scooter, get a small trailer or a hitch mounted platform to carry the scooter.

  • If by tow, you mean having the wheels of the scooter on the ground?...I wouldnt advise that.

You could have a platform to have it up off the ground that fits into your hitch.
