Since my night vision is less than it used to be, I no longer consider the night driving idea an option. In the past, driving to and from Las Vegas (where two of the kids went to UNLV and one now lives) daytime temps often were in excess of 110 degrees. Temp coming off the road was way more. In the MH we would drive with all a/c's running and never had a problem. We also never drove on Sunday or Friday because of the traffic. In the car we would drive at night, if there was an accident on the road and traffic stopped, which was quite often, you could be stuck on the road for hours while the helicopters were brought in. Then while idling with a/c on lots of cars would stall out, tying up traffic even more. Thus, drive at night.
