Back in the early '80s my PO wanted to see a pay check stub for every week. I started to drive a tow truck for a local company. (I owned a couple of wreckers in early '70s) As driver, I was paid % of what I made with the truck. Starting rate for a car tow for somebody that calls, $15. Dealers and shops, $12.5 If police impounded your car, $10. Wreck, or business wanted car towed off their property, $40. AAA? Hook up was $3.75. Now both police and AAA had a direct line into the office. When the trucks where al busy, calls backed up on the sheet, the ringer on AAA phone was shut off.
