Towing horses behind your motorhome.

I have a 2012 Thor Freedom Elite 24' and planning on towing my horses for camping trips. I'm getting my tow bar upgraded to 6000 lbs. does anyone have advice or helpful hints?

Calamity.
  • We have several MH forums. Someone may have the same rig. Ask the mod to move you over there. I would also check some of the horse forums also as some do this for a living (horse breeders/show/equestrian events/rodeo/etc).

I custom haul mostly cattle with a 16k GN triaxle trailer.

A 6k rated tow bar...may not be enough ...'course we have no idea how heavy the horse trailer is.

Maybe just put the horses on a front hitch rack instead.

I'm sure you're not serious. Set your lawn chair out and observe the traffic that goes by.

How is a stock trailer behind a semi or pickup any different?
