A higher speed while climbing can keep the trans locked up, and more cooling air on the rad / cooler etc.
On my truck, which we use for some extreme climbs and towing at GCWR, I find I need to stay above 45 mph to stay locked, so pushing the engine is of lesser concern than trans temps IMO
