I think the highest I have seen transmission temperatures is peaking at 180 degrees. This was a day in the upper 80's climbing the Rockies with about 19,500 lbs GCW. As soon as the fan clutch kicked in, it lowered engine and transmission temperatures.
On side note: We made it east all the way across SD with a dead fan clutch in 90 degree weather and were able to keep normal operating temperatures as long as we did not run the air conditioner. I had a clutch waiting in Sioux Falls and the dealership swapped it in without delay.
