Your Aisin transmission in your Tundra will lock the torque converter up in 5th or 6th gears which are overdrive gears when the transmission selector is in Drive. The torque converter will also lock up in 4th gear which is actually a 1/1 ratio when your transmission selector is in S-4. Pay attention to your Tach and engine noise. You can hear when the torque converter locks and unlocks. On the interstate I prefer to use S mode and pick my gear. I'll stay in 5th until I notice my torque converter not staying locked up and then I'll shift to 4th and let the engine rev with the converter locked up. Even in 4th I'm only at 2800 RPM at 65, which the engine is more then happy to run at all day long.
