I just got done camping on the Mogollon Rim in AZ last week.
The very last hill climb is a whopper up the 260. Towing a 7000 lb trailer that is 2 feet wider and 3 feet taller than my 99 Tahoe isnt fun. Going up the hill and keeping 45 mph required me to reprogram my custom 0411 ECM and added tow/haul map to lock up the TCC in 2nd which it normally wouldnt. Doing this I can keep it WOT for 11 minutes till I get to the top. At 80 degrees outside my trans still got to 200 due to the planetary gears making heat and engine with 180 stat went to 213.
Truck has lots of mods or it would never had made it. I should have videoed it but next week Im picking up an F350 psd 7.3 so I will never have to do that again. No more gasser for towing!
Don't PSD 7.3's have less than 300 hp? It will crawl the same grades just at a lower RPM...however that RPM will probably be proportional to what a gasser would do making the same power.
I don't get the problem with RPM. Let the gas motor rev and make it's power. Diesels have to rev to make power too it just redlines at a lower rpm.
Thanks!
