I just got done camping on the Mogollon Rim in AZ last week.
The very last hill climb is a whopper up the 260. Towing a 7000 lb trailer that is 2 feet wider and 3 feet taller than my 99 Tahoe isnt fun. Going up the hill and keeping 45 mph required me to reprogram my custom 0411 ECM and added tow/haul map to lock up the TCC in 2nd which it normally wouldnt. Doing this I can keep it WOT for 11 minutes till I get to the top. At 80 degrees outside my trans still got to 200 due to the planetary gears making heat and engine with 180 stat went to 213.
Truck has lots of mods or it would never had made it. I should have videoed it but next week Im picking up an F350 psd 7.3 so I will never have to do that again. No more gasser for towing!
Don't PSD 7.3's have less than 300 hp? It will crawl the same grades just at a lower RPM...however that RPM will probably be proportional to what a gasser would do making the same power.
I don't get the problem with RPM. Let the gas motor rev and make it's power. Diesels have to rev to make power too it just redlines at a lower rpm.
Thanks!

I guess I didn't include enough info...
My Tahoe makes about 290 hp and 380 tq which is really 240 hp and 330 tq AT THE WHEELS.
The truck I am buying from a friends dad who is original owner is a 2000 F350 dually that he drove to Banks in Cali and had the Banks Power Pack installed.
He said they dyno'd it at 300 hp and 670 tq AT THE WHEELS.
So I will be gaining +60 hp and +340 tq over the Tahoe, not to mention beter mileage.
Okay, that makes sense.
Taking the Diesel and Gas out of this issue. Just keep an eye on the 4R100 transmission and enjoy the new to you truck.
The MPG's may not be as drastic an increase as you think though. My Father in laws 99 PSD got about 13-14 mpg highway. That was with the Bullydog turned down. But you don't buy a truck for MPG anyhow.
Thanks!
Jeremiah
