towing jayco x17Z hybrid with 2015 toyota 4runner rear wheel

Bought a new 4runner to tow x17Z hybrid.Read you need a custom frame mounted hitch since 4runner is cross member mounted and is not recommended to be used with w/d hitch.Is this correct and where do y...

Im not sure what year your camper is but the 2013 Jayco X17Z has a GVWR of 3500 lbs... same as my pop up and I don't need a WDH for my 1997 4Runner V6.
