You mentioned you don't think the Equilizer was adjusted properly by the second dealer and that's entirely possible and would explain a lot.
After downloading the manual, your husband can take measurements and check the setup procedure. He'll want to find out if the proper amount of weight is being transferred to the front axle among other things. That doesn't cost anything and just might solve your problem.
