Towing TT Safety Question

I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. My dads TT is a 25ft that weighs 6500-7000 pounds. I want to bring his TT over to my home (20 mile trip at most) so that I can wash, wax, check seals...etc. (dad is 75). Here is the question:

Do you think I will be ok towing with just a heavy duty hitch 2 15/16 ball instead of using his equalizer hitch & weight distribution? His hitch will not go in far enough for me to install the hitch pin is why I am asking. Andersen Rapid Hitch - 6" Drop/Rise with 2" and 2-5/16" Balls Is type I have. 10,000 lb max.

Safety for me & my truck.?
  • I have a 23' just a little lighter than that. When I pick it up at storage (5 miles)I rarely deal with the WD bars, I just set it on the hitch and take it home. Not an issue with my 2500, Has a little bounce to it but the truck handles it well. Just take your time and make sure the brake controller is set! To bad your not closer or you could come get mine and wax it and do the bearings!!
    Your Dad will be happy!
  • I echo Bumpy. For only 20 slow easy miles you should be ok.
