Hi all, New to Trailer Life and will probably have a lot of questions. So I'll just get started. Two weeks ago I ordered this new straptek tension system from Amozon. I've read a lot about it, what little there is out there, because of two accidents involving my cheater bar. Once getting it in the foot. I learnt pretty quick to stand back a little. The second time it bounced off the ground and hit the guy's camper next to me. For some reason he didn't see the humor in that! Thankfully, it made a lot of noise, but didn't leave a mark. That's why this new thing looked very interesting. I went camping last weekend and could very well go on about how this straptek performed for a couple more paragraphs but was wondering if anyone else has tried this thing. I may be a little bias. To summarize; It worked very well. I'm surprised in a good way.

One of the guys that I work with, in Indianapolis, has a son in law that works for Forrest River in Elkhart IN. That's about as close as it gets. From what I hear of what he does, I don't think I would want anything to do with it.
Since your from California are you , your family or friends a movie star?

I have been camping for 40 years, I'm going to retire in 1 1/2 years. I have finally found a product that truly works. I don't care for 5'ers and told my wife that we would give it up a year ago because one chain release cracked a bone in my wrist. You think you can do the things you did when you where 40 but when faced with it.....I can't. This may give me a couple more years to do what I've always wanted to do in my retirement, CAMP! My wife agrees that I need to curb my excitement about this, but unhooking, and driving with my camper doesn't intimidate me anymore. I can pursue the dream, Sorry.

Here’s a situation for ya. I’m backing down into a campsite that is near a 20 degree angle through the length of the camper. My truck is at a 35 degree angle with the front end at the edge of the road. This condition will not allow you to raise your camper and truck enough to get your chains loose without a lot of pressure being on the spring bars. So now your only choice is to pull everything back up on the road, block traffic and get your bars loose up there.
This straptek system, being new to me, was so cool. All I had to do is set the wheel chalks, release the strap winch, raise the camper off the truck…….Done!

Well, I have been on three camping trips since my last reply. From a hitching and unhitching standpoint it was flawless. With hills and valleys and all kinds of wind conditions the sway control has been top notch. I work in a industrial maintenance department for a living and have had no desire to work in sales. I'm reconsidering that! This Straptek, from everyone that has seen it first hand, sells itself. I just gave away my friction sway control device to a guy at a camp ground that just wanted to get home a little safer and was going to order a straptek for himself. My wife is not crazy about this new system because it adds to the list of things she can do!

The Straptek looks like a solution to a nonexistent problem. The old chain system works well if you operate it properly as pappcam noted.
