I am frequently reminded how wonderful it is that we found our current place!
We are in a small housing development (4 houses, 6 if you count the ones on the main road), on a private lane. No CCRs to speak of, no HOA, no Code enforcement, just nothing to give us grief over where we park our "stuff". Our neighbor often has a flatbed or horse trailer parked in the cul-de-sac for long periods. Nobody cares. But then, he and I are the only ones affected by it. He has also had a tractor in the process of being rebuilt parked in his driveway for about 5 years. No problem. My amateur radio station antennas don't give the neighbors any heartburn. My motorhome sits beside the house all winter, and in the driveway all summer. I can target shoot in my back yard. My neighbor sights in his hunting rifle in his back yard, and shoots at geese regularly during the season. My and my neighbors' trash cans stay beside the lane all the time. It is just more convenient that way.
Yes, when I read about the problems other people have, I realize how lucky we are!
