If you get an older tractor, a Ford 3000 of 4000 series can't be beat, same with a Massey Ferguson 135 or 165. Good dependable tractors a dime a dozen and easy parts availability.
When we down sized to 11 acres I bought a Mahindra Maxx 25. Great tractor ,front end loader and Mid mount mower. Right about 16 grand out the door. Kubota and Deere are undeniably the cream of the crop, BUT their prices also reflect that. They are not so much better than Mahindra or Kioti to justify that much more of a price.
One word of caution if you go with a Deere. Do not by from a dealer whose focus is Ag equipment, if you have a problem you will be well behind the big farmer who has a half million dollar combine or tractor that needs service. John Deere does have dealers usually located in more suburban areas that cater to the large property owner.
Quality of a small major brand tractor is not normally an issue, they all are good. Service and dealer reputation is key and the first thing I would look for even before brand.
