trading in TOAD

We are interested in trading in our Jeep Wrangler for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was told that the entire tow package would have to come off the Wrangler and could not be used for the Grand Cherokee. The guy told me I would just have to buy another system and the entire thing would cost about $4000 again. Is this true? It doesn't seem very cost effective to trade in vehicles.

Baseplate won't migrate. Parts of Lighting might, depending how it was done. Towbar absolutely should migrate, along with braking unless there are special installation components. If so, you should be able to get just those pieces.

It's the "Must Come Off" part of this that concerns me. Many are looking for a vehicle dressed out as a toad. Especially a JEEP. Those people would pay more for one that had a base plate, not less. Dealer would probably Offer Less then Ask More.

If I'd installed the base plate, I'd probably take it off and sell it, but hiring somebody to do it won't pay back.
  • Sheesh! I've used the same Demco towbar and Ready Brake system on a Mazda Miata, Jeep Liberty, Chevy Z71, and another Jeep Liberty.
Don't listen to everything a sales liar tells you!
  • Used my Blue Ox on 2 different vehicles. Just had to buy a new base plate for the new vehicle and wiring installation. Previous braking system worked just fine.

The “guy” that wants to sell you the new toad and the tow package?

x2 see no reason why old brake system could not be used
