Trailer connector- Ram

I have a 2012 Ram 2500 with a 7 pin flat connector and a 4 pin on my bumper as part of the tow package. i have a slide in camper and also want to tow my boat. Since my trailer has brakes I need the 7 pin for that part. The stock connector on the bumper does not allow for use of both at the same time. I want to run the camper from the 4 pin but have no access. Anyone else run into this or have any suggestions?

  • ^ ^ ^ I bought a splitter that "T"d intoe harness near the bumper. Mounted it inside the bed. Camper with trailer or 5th wheel, either one works fine.
Bought from Tweety's or eTrailer, don't remember.
  • I built a splitter for the 7 pin but they are commercially available if you don't want to make one yourself.
The best solution is to install a second 7 pin connector in the bed of the truck right beside where the camper cord is. Then the one at the rear is available for trailers.
