trailer legs

has any one used the trailer legs for lifting your trailer during storage?
  • I placed some solid 16 x 8 x 4 cinder blocks in 2 rows to make 16 inch wide parking platforms for the tires to sit on. They are off the ground but still support the trailer. I used enough blocks to still allow me to shock the tires.
  • Most axles are not to be jacked, so that is even worse.

When I stored outdoors, I lowered the tongue and stacked blocks right behind the rear axle up to the frame. Then I raised the front just a bit above level and stacked blocks near the front. After lowering the front onto the blocks, all or nearly all of the weight was off the tires. I left some of the weight on the tongue jack as well. This works great on a smaller trailer, but an exceptionally long one might take more stacks.

Anyway, it didn't cost much and the trailer wasn't sitting on expensive plastic.
  • no it's not the stabilizer jacks, I know all about those. this is something I saw on TV that you put under your axles on both sides of the TT to lift the TT and tires off the ground for storage. they are saying the tires get rotten on the ground the trailer legs will eliminate that problem. they are made of plastic in USA and they cost $319 per four of them. look them up on trailer legs.com to see what I'm talking about
  • Please do not use the jacks to lift your trailer as it will damage the unit.
  • No! There not designed for that type of use. THey are only to stabilize the trailer when you are walking in it.
  • Are you talking about the stabilizer jacks?
If so, they are not designed for "lifting" the full weight of the trailer. Too much tension on them can possibly tweak the frame and throw doors and windows out of plumb.
