California is not like any other state - we have found. Their state parks haven't been updated like other states. If you intend to use state parks, the sites are typically small and trees aren't trimmed sufficiently. There are some exception but most are for below 30'. The above link is excellent.
Forest Service campground can accept larger RVs in some places - not all.
Private RV parks can accept any size - but not all. You need to check out each one individually.
Now...if you travel out of California, we have found with our 40' motorhome, that we have a much bigger selection of public parks to choose from - national, state, national forests, county and city. We've used them all as public parks are always our first choice.
