Hi Neighbor! I am just northeast of you in the Guildford area. (Fleetwood) Welcome to the forum!!
I solo tow 99.5% of the time.
So I have got used to backing into sometimes tight places alone.
One trick that I use a lot is I get out and scope out the spot first, noting any obstacles to avoid and such.
But most important, I look at the overall width of the spot I have compared to the width of my TT. What I mean by that is I see that I have lets say 12 feet of width to put the trailer into. So whether I put it in from drivers side or passenger, it doesn't matter to me. I will make a mental note that as long as I keep it within xx feet of something on whichever side I back it in from, I won't hit anything with the blind side, because I know I have xx feet of room there.
Hope that makes sense...
But I will get out and do a walk around a couple times during the process to make sure I am not too close to trees or picnic tables or anything. Once I am into the spot and the TV is straight to the TT I then can fine tune the location by pulling straight ahead and backing up again so I can see both sides with my mirrors.
My current TT is a full 3 feet longer than my old one. Shortly after getting it I was backing into a spot, at night, in the dark using the above mentioned method. Well, I was a little too far out at the back and I bonked the short 6X6 pole that had the power plug and water! Oops. Didn't feel a thing. But fortunately, I went out to do a walk around after nudging the thing and bending it over a few inches!!
