The Dexron VI OEM fluid that comes in GM vehicles is not a full synthetic fluid, it is a blend. For some reason most people believe that when GM changed to the Dexron VI it was to upgrade to a full synthetic. If you check on the internet, or go to Bob's the oil guy website you will find a list of non OEM Dexron VI manufacturers. There are only a few that actually make a full Dexron VI synthetic that are approved by GM. When I changed the fluid in my 2010 2500HD with the 6L90E transmission I used Valvoline. It is a true synthetic. I also always add a bottle of LubeGuard. I once had a transmission guy tell me that he always used a bottle of Lubeguard in every transmission that he repaired.
