Word of advice.
Throw out the itinerary and go with the flow.
You've never been there so everything is new, different and interesting. On out first trip we were running all over following the tour book. We noticed on our rush to visit a castle we were speeding by other castles that looked just as inviting. We don't know one from the other so why the rush.
When you get back home read up on what you saw not what you missed. The best part of exploring new places is stumbling on something you weren't expecting or had planned on.
Sometimes the local hardware store is much more interesting than the museum.
