The only gravel areas I ran into were construction areas. That was probably a total of 100 miles over the 2500 mile trip. Some roads would have been smoother if they were gravel though....
The roads can be rough, no one can deny that....but I've been on worse highways in Arkansas..... Those slabs with 6-8" gaps and crumbled potholes are worse than most frost heaves. At least Canada marks the heaves and gives warning to hazards.
