Billy W has good points. Also, there are some East and West coast versions of the same brand unit---with different equipment.
Find a unit that fits your lifestyle first, then check for the quality. Some examples would be; we found larger tanks were pretty important to us, having a shower in the bathroom enclosure was important, having 1 slide, and a good sized refer too! We're in our third trailer--this works well for us.

Don't be to surprised, if the price you want to pay, and what a dealer is willing to sell it for, are no where near the same. ;)
This is not directed at you, but I find it amusing, how many people are upset with a dealer, when they won't sell a unit for what they are willing to pay. Of course they also want retail value for their trade in. :h

Also, it's easy to overlook features that end up being quite important to some people. Two RVs might be very similar in construction and layout, but one of them could have very small holding tanks, or inadequate insulation for hot/cold climates. Some are wood framed with fiberglass bat insulation. Some are aluminum framed with solid foam insulation. Some of them sit very close to the ground, others have good clearance. No matter what brand you choose, go over it with a fine tooth comb. Potential water leaks on the roof and around fittings and cutouts (like windows and lights) are the bane of all RVs, and should be high on your list of scheduled preventive maintenance.

Another thing to remember, especially when buying new is the location of the dealer to perform warranty work. Do you want to drive 10 minutes down the road to get it done or 4 hours away? Try to keep it reasonable. Because you will more than likely have something that needs to be done within warranty. Not always, but most of the time.

Don't listen to people on what they think about brands. Find the floor plan and look you like. Inspect it very well. All brands have bad units come through them. The more units a manufacturer makes, the more chances of errors.

For the same price and floor plan you are going to get about the same quality no matter what manufacturer you buy from. There is no manufacturer with a magic wand. You want better quality, that is also available, but it costs more. Your dealer is more important then the manufacturer.

Contact the RV Consumer Group; www.rv.org. They rate RV's more objectively than we do on this site.

Ditto, they are all pretty much the same. Find a floor plan that works and you'll find similar from most manufacturers. See who sells what in your area and go look em over. Being new to it, having a dealer nearby for maintenance might be an important point.

Start looking on YouTube too. Find a floorplan that you like and see what the sidebar suggests!
