We often travel south around the beginning of February, from Western PA. We generally overnight at Fort Mill SC, just south of Charlotte NC. The next day we travel the balance of the first part of our time away. The things to do and see vary greatly, so I won't provide guidance with that. But, the most important thing I can relate (I believe) is to keep your start date flexible. Be ready to leave a few days before or after your planned start date in case of bad weather. Avoid snow and icey roads to the degree possible. While further north we can get lots of snow, but as you progress south you may find more ice. So, keep an eye on the weather, and leave when the roads are at their best. Remember, it can snow in Jacksonville FL at times.
