To the original poster... you are good to CC in Texas, go to shooting ranges and even go hunting if interested and want to spend the money on an out of state hunting license..

While I tend to agree, and do practice the above with regularity, it's not entirely practical all the time. Driving around certain states makes a trip pretty expensive. Principle has it's price and my pocketbook isn't bottomless.
It is very easy to avoid any state or business... just don't go there. I've lost nothing in any of those states that I feel the need to pickup.
Back in the late 60's I drove a 1957 Chevy through every one of the 48 contiguous states; sleeping in the car, on roadside park tables and under the stars on a bedroll. I've already seen the best of what they offer. Texas and the states around me have more than a lifetime of things to do and see without my venturing into places where I don't fit in.
