Besides, if the heat is running for hours while driving, the interior of your fiver will be dripping with condensation.

What is with the condensation deal, doesn't your furnace exhaust to the outside?
i have done what the OP asked and it was not raining inside the camper and the tanks were not emptied. Special occasion and we only ran it a half a day with the stat set low.
