Walking out of the little sales room works... We had agreed to the dealers "Internet" price on a beautiful 2012 Nexus Pantom 23P Class C with just 6,205 miles on it as I knew it to be very aggressive. The sticking point was they only offered $4K for our TT {wholesale per their book} and I had it on another dealers lot on consignment for $9K {they would keep $500 and I was to receive $8,500} as it was immaculate.
I pointed out to the sales manager that it was July 31st, one in the afternoon. You guys have already made your nut for the month and the quarter. Every rig you sell between now and closing is going to generate cash flowing in from corporate... tell me I'm wrong.
"No, you are not wrong" he agreed.
We had a credit score of 830 and were putting $18,000 down on a $47,600 sales price. I told my wife "We are outa here" and walked out the front door. Went over and leaned on my truck and she asked what happens now? Wait for it I told her.
Sure enough 5 minutes later out they came, seems they magically found a buyer for my TT and agreed to the $8,500 trade I wanted. The sales tax was computed on the difference between the trade and coach we purchased which saved us another $600.
Large dealership chains often have a lot of room to work, this was La Mesa RV and we were very pleased with the deal and subsequent after sales service. I would definitely consider shopping with them again... if I wasn't so darned happy with our rig after nearly 50,000 trouble free miles.
