While looking for a new trailer I went to every dealer within 50 miles and one that was miles away. At one dealer, they had a price on a paper in the camper with with the price that included a discount of $1555 for financing. i told the sales lady that I would give her their price but I wanted to pay cash. She informed me that I would have to pay the $1555 extra to pay cash. At this point she also informed me that I would have to pay $50 for a full lp tank, $200 for a battery and box, and $1100 in shipping and prep charges. I informed her that I was not impressed by the misleading sale price.
I went to Scenic RV in Baraboo, WI and talked to a salesman named Mark. After telling him what I wanted, he took me out the lot and showed me several campers that filled the bill. The price was posted on the table of every unit on their lot. I asked Mark for the total price. I was surprised when he told me that the price marked is what you pay. After sitting down at his desk, I asked about the cost of adding an electric tongue jack. He said he would throw in the jack for free. I went home and got my wife to look at the trailer, we signed right there.
There are still good dealers around. We ended up getting 30% off and the jack and some other perks.
