Trigger Finger Problem.

My DH slipped off a short ladder and hooked his wedding ring on something, causing his trigger finger. It was more annoying than painful to him, but he scheduled the surgery anyway. The trigger disappeared the night before the surgery and never returned.

Also my mom jammed her finger while doing a faceplant on the sidewalk. She developed a trigger finger which went away within a week.

It sounds like the same thing my husband went to the doctor for this morning. He put off having the operation until it became too painful thinking that he would not be able to use his finger for several weeks but it sounds like it will not be bad other than not being able to drive home from the hospital. And it just occurred to me that my assumpion that he would be haing it in the hospital might be wrong.

I developed a trigger finger on my right hand ring finger. At times it was very painful and was totally annoying. I showed it to my doctor who offered to send me to a specialist and surgery was a possibility. I researched it and decided to wear a splint that kept it rigid. Since it tended to "activate" at night in my sleep causing considerable pain, I wore it at night. I did that for . . . I can't really remember how long. Eventually I noticed it seemed to be diminishing and has since gone completely away.

I haven't any any recurrences at all.

I've had two bad cases of it on the two ring fingers. They do what is similar to carpal tunnel surgery in the palm of your hand near the base, of the first joint. They closed the incision with suer glue and sutures. never bled any and in about two weeks are so the only sign was a callused area at the incision site. it is still there. Must have something to do with the glue.
The other hand it went away but threatens to come back when I wear my wedding ring. Don't know why these things suddenly appear.

My brother had surgery on one finger on his right hand done a couple of years ago, no complications and it's completely normal now. He's developed a trigger finger on the other hand and is scheduling the surgery.

Like Peg Leg said "when you have to pull your finger to straighten it out and it hurts the surgery is welcome relief."

I have had all 8 fingers operated on for trigger finger and also both hands for carpal tunnel. I tried the steroid shots for trigger finger several times.

The steroid shots are said to to be effective about 50% of the time. My experience is that they were a temporary fix and not worth the expense when surgery is still going to be the final fix.

My surgeon was very good. The incision is about 5/8" long from the callous pads to just across the 1st life line in your palm. Stitches come out in 2 wks at which point my Doc would bend and straighten the finger to it's limits. I started flexing and straightening my finger the day after surgery. Eventually placing my palm down on a flat surface and lifting the end of the finger to stretch it and manually forcing the finger down into a full bend.

The more you can work it early the quicker the recovery to full use, approx 6 wks for me. This summer I had a carpal tunnel and a trigger finger done at the same time, then 4 wks later the other carpal tunnel. 5 wks after that I replaced a rack and pinon and a steering column in 01 Buick. I wasn't quick but I had never done this before and wasn't out to set records.

When you have to pull your finger to straighten it out and it hurts bad enough the surgery is welcome relief. Good luck.

The problem is you are trying to guess what the problem is. Arthritus, tendon? Tendons happen quickly.

numness in in my hand. the doc said I needed what they call
carpoll tunnel. I had it and have not had any problems since
with trigger finger.

My BIL had his fixed last spring. Outpatient surgery and his hand was bandaged about a week.
