Mom has had two done. Fairly easy surgery what they do is cut the tendon sheath to allow the tendon to glide threw without getting stuck. If caught early a cortisone is injected to see if can resolve the inflammation of the tendon to stop the trigger finger.
The incision is about 3/4 inch and mom was back at work within 3 weeks as a hairdresser. Her doc told her that it was a high probability she would develop trigger finger on the other hand same finger. About a year later it happened and underwent successful surgery again. Scars are barely visible.
