Truck Tire Recommendations?

I replaced the Michs on my Ram with the same tire. Dodge dealer was as cheap as anyone sand get free balance rotating.

I hated the Michelins that came on the wife's Yukon XL. Horrible winter tire, and started to chunk apart after lots of gravel road. Put Toyo Open Country A/T's on it. Very happy with them.
I run Toyo M-55's on my Duramax, it gets pounded down thousands of miles of dirt road hauling and towing. They hold up well.
I have also had good luck with Firestone/Bridgestone.
Had a set of BFG A/T's and they were so soft they just melted off in about 20K miles. Great winter traction though.

Thanks for all the info, folks. One thing, though. Several peopke have referred to date codes, wear ratings, etc. Does anyone have a link to a reference on these issues? I only know the basics, like how to read size, general category (LT, etc), and pressures. Where do I find (and how do I evaluate) these other ratings?

I think most Rams come from the factory with the Goodyear Wranglers. They're some of the worst tires for wear on my truck, especially the HP model. If you want more life pay attention to the wear rating. 600 is a really good number. The higher the better. BFGoodrich Long Trail has always been my go to tire. My size has a wear rating of 580 and handles well. I find that it has good puncture resistance and handles really well in the wet. I have a set almost down to the wear bars and there's no noticeable aquaplaning regardless to the size of the puddle. The General Grabber HTS is an even better tire. It has a higher wear rating (my size @ 640) and higher max pressure which may come in handy when towing.

I've owned numerous trucks and worked them hard in my electrical contracting business. I always bought the cheapest tires I could find and always got about 30,000 miles out of a set. When I started hauling the TC I decided I wanted good tires and bought Michelns. The first set went well over 50,000 miles. I'm on my second set now. I'm very happy with them.

I put Cooper rib tires on our 1/2 ton Sport Trac. They're all season rated and are really quiet. We don't use it much in the winter but the few times we've had it out in the snow it got around okay. We don't off-road any so I saw no sense in getting any kind of aggressive or semi-aggressive tread pattern. And the price was sure right.

They've been on there 3.5 years and about 35,000 miles and have a lot of life left.

Think of what you will be using the truck for. Off road excursions? Lots of snow driving? Or 99% highway miles?

I have always put AT tires on my trucks (usually the BFGs). But I don't really take my truck off road anymore. I do prize good snow performance. So I went with the Michelin LTX M/S2 this time. I've never purchased such a 'bland' truck tire before, but it is quiet and comfortable so far. I went with the LT over the P variant; time will tell if that was the right choice or not, I guess.

I replaced my truck tires with Michelins and am happy how they're wearing. They're not great in the snow but I guess that's what you get for a high mileage tire. I believe they're warranted for 70,000 miles. We also have Michelins on the Dodge Caravan. I always have good luck with Discount Tire.
