Truck/5th Wheel Insurance

Anyone have any experience or comment on GEICO?

I currently have GMAC and received a quote from GEICO that has the same coverage but at 15% lower than GMAC.

I've had no issues (claims) with GMAC but am curious if anyone has any input/comments regarding their experience with GEICO?

Thanks

  • So far GEICO did good on a windshield replacement on my toad. I was in a state that usually doesn't have a zero deductible, but I'm insured out of Florida and they require zero deductible on windshields, so when I called the local branch they were a little confused at first but within a few minutes I had my appointment at Safelight with no out of pocket.
They gave me the best fulltime quotes by a fairly good margin. Sometimes hard to get insurance with a name brand company in Florida (darn hurricanes).
  • I was insured with GEICO while staying long-term at a park in Tennessee. While there, a lightning storm hit the campground and took out my air conditioner in the fiver. The GEICO claims representative was out at the campground the following day, took a look at the damage, and wrote a check for the damages less deductible on the spot. I was very pleased. The only reason I am not with them now is I get a better deal on all of my insurance as a package through USAA. But not everyone can get USAA coverage, so that may not apply in your instance.

Ditto that - on both, as well as State Farm, Progressive, USAA, and others. (Unfortunately it's a looong list, LOL!)

Often recommendations (good or bad) are not applicable to the state where the person (asking) resides.

The suggested agency may *not* write policies in "your" state.

BTW - I've found the insurers that advertise the most - are also
the most expensive. (Did ya hear that Flo?)

The best advice is to shop around extensively - always comparing the cost for the *exact* same coverage from each insurer - whether it's from a broker or direct from the agency...;)

BTW - "Independent Agents" may not be as "independent" as the name should imply!

    Double check your quote elsewhere.

  • I have GEICO for all my stuff. The FW ins. is inexpensive IMHO. Have had a couple minor car claims during 30 years with no issues; never with the FW so don't know how that would work out.
  • I have used a local independent agent since 2000 for all our insurances. In the 15 years since we have not had a claim while one the road with our RV from coast to coast and border to border. Come to think of it I have never had a claim while traveling in my life time. I am happy. I had GMAC for awhile and they got to expensive.
