I'm approaching that point myself. I'm 67 and been thru all the states except Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. I hate flying which is kinda funny since I used to have a private license, but commercial flights are uncomfortable as they keep adding more seats to the same space, and considering that you have to be at the airport a couple of hours before scheduled departure and three hours before actual departure, and then wait for your bags on arrival, you can drive 300-400 miles in the same amount of time and be more comfortable. And when you get where you're going, you're staying in a hotel/motel room of questionable cleanliness and eating in restaurants.
I'm seriously thinking of driving the pickup and staying at Homewood Suites or Embassy Suites for what little time I intend to travel. Maybe I'll try that on a trip to Colonial Williamsburg.
But at my age, it sure is nice to have a bathroom along. :)
OK. I just went out to the Embassy Suites hotel site where I used to stay pre-RV. Now I remember why I bought the RV. And the prices! I didn't want to buy the place - just rent a room. Looks like my next visit will be at American Heritage.
