So you are over your GCWR by 1,020 lbs.
You are under you GVWR by 360 lbs. Was everyone and everything in the Explorer when you weighed it while hooked to the trailer?
Assuming you were fully loaded, you'd probably be fine with the Durango. If you were not fully loaded, then you'll need to compare payload capacity. It will likely be difficult to find a Durango with more payload than what you have now. It is probably a better tow vehicle regardless however.
