tub or no tub?

Soaking in an epsom salt bath to sooth the aches and pains of aging feels like heaven reslly. Our travel trailer has a bathtub/shower combination which has come in handy a few times, I made it by myself from an old repaired tub. I am in the planning phase of going full time and we are researching the best motorhome option for me. I haven't seen a bathtub in any of them.My routes will have to include stopping to see friends and family so I can use their bathtub.
Do you miss having a bathtub?
  • No. I’ve never seen a full size bathtub in an RV but perhaps they do make them. We’ve actually removed the tub from our home as it was never used and was a pain stepping over the side for taking a shower.
  • Never had one but did miss a tub when my son was small. Dealing with a squirmy little boy in a shower was a challenge.
  • I guess it would depend also on how often you use it. If you dont use it too often a night at a motel every couple of weeks could be planned into your travels.
  • For full time I can understand your "want" but the fact that you don't see them says a lot to me. Maybe splurge and get an occasional massage instead.

RV tubs are great for children. Not so much for adults.
  • You not only have to consider the length of the tub, but the actual depth. Some are so low that the water won't go over your legs while soaking.
  • Your RVs water heater would not fill a tub of any size so to speak. Even the on-demand water heaters have their limits and are best used for showers. I agree with the suggestion that if you need the occasional soak take a night at a motel/hotel. A lot of the hotels have hot tubs and jacuzzis too.
  • I like to boondock too much to mess with that much water use. I bet ATC or Intech would custom build pretty much anything and there are the custom RV builders too. They make tankless RV water heaters now. I don't need a tub that bad myself! So I would say nope, don't need a bathtub in my RV. Those tankless water heaters... maybe someday if I go back to full hook up sites.
