So far, all my medical has been covered, have Premium policy and $8 co pay. Biggest concern has been, when away from a VA facility, out in the desert ect. First reason for this post was how others viewed the Veterans Choice Program or even if it's an option away from home.
I have experienced, as have other I have talked to at the VA, the practice of routinely denying care under the Veteran Choice program. They always seem to come up with some kind of technicality that disallows it. I know this from personal experience and first hand from other Veterans. This program seems to be a publicity effort by the VA after the past scandals to give the appearance that the VA is doing something to help us. It looks to be pretty much smoke and mirrors and my primary care doctor at the VA has told me as much. Traveling is completely disallowed under the Choice program. If traveling, the only way to get care from the VA is at a VA hospital on a walk in basis. Chuck
