Friends of ours from OZ have come over to the US a couple of times for extended visits and have bought a car each time. After traveling around the country for several months, they sell it. No need to establish an address in the US.
  • Actually, your best bet is to establish a USA address using a mail forwarding service. With that address, you can buy, register, and then insure your vehicle. I suggest Dakota Post in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They will guide you through the processes.
  • Yes. visitors from other nation states can purchase, register, vehicles in the USA. Your Australian drivers license is valid for a visit.. you are welcome, your citizenship in Australia is welcome in all of the Americas, from Canada to Argentina.
Visit consulates and embassies for clearance.
