When at a 30 amp supply and running electric heat.... I run one space heater on high, and another on low (check wattage of your specific heater - they vary)....
When it's time to make coffee or run the microwave, I temporarily shut off the heater that is set on high.
I set the furnace at 50 or so as a backup.
My plan as well only I set the furnace higher 65º-70º. No need to be cold. Furnace only runs as needed.
Be sure heaters are on separate circuits. With a 30 amp service you will have to manage your big draw appliances
If you plan to run electric heat regularly bringing an additional 20 amp cord directly from pedestal is a good idea
