When you consign a rig, you are actually transfering ownership to them. Keeping the title doesn't matter. Rigs on consignment are considered assets of the business. Most of the time it doesn't matter, and it all works as it should, but if they go out of business abruptly, or declare bankruptcy, all vehicles become property of the creditors. I witnessed this once in Wisconsin. There we're 40 rigs on the property,they declared bankruptcy and locked the gates and they all lost their rigs. After the creditors were paid, there was nothing left to give back to the owners. You would think it illegal, but they signed the document that gave them permission to do it.Read the fine print.
